With Pinterest, users can collect images and videos to create boards based around a particular topic. It’s a great way for people to find inspiration or just share what interests them. Businesses can benefit from the platform by creating boards featuring products, services, useful information, or other content that expresses their brand. Pinterest has a separate option for business accounts, which provides access to analytics and allows businesses to run ads.
Step 1: Sign Up for a Business Account
Make sure that you open a business account rather than a personal account by clicking “Create a business account” at the bottom of the form when you sign up.
To complete the process, you’ll need to provide your email, business name, and website. Once you’ve done this, Pinterest will prompt you to select the most relevant category to describe your business. You can choose from:
- Public figure or media
- Online marketplace (if you sell exclusively online)
- Local business
Step 2: Make a Profile
Your account is set up, but you still need a profile. The most important thing to do (as on the other platforms) is to add the right pictures. On Pinterest, you just need a profile picture (check out this guide here), which you can add by heading to settings.
On the same page, you should write a description in the “About you” box, specify your location, and add the URL to your website.
Step 3: Confirm Your Website Address
As well as adding a link to your website, you should confirm its address. This will mean that your profile picture will appear whenever users create pins from content on your site and your rankings in search will improve. You’ll see the option to confirm your website in the settings. You need to copy the HTML code provided and paste it into the index page on your site.
Confirm that everything is working correctly by pinning a link from your website and checking that it appears with your profile picture.
Encourage users to pin your content by heading to your website and pinning some images to a board. Choose just your highest-quality images and make sure everything on the board shares a theme. Finally, add descriptions to every image to ensure that users know what your pins are about — and why they should care.
